Admirals Tennis Battles Sigonella in Weekend Match
The Rota Admirals Tennis team took the courts against Sigonella this past Saturday, showing grit and determination throughout a competitive lineup of matches.
In girls’ singles, the Admirals dominated early, with Maya (6-2, 6-2), Danaeyah (8-2), Natalie (6-0), and Isabel (6-1) all securing strong wins. Esther fought hard at the #5 seed but fell 3-6.
On the boys’ side, Parker and Brandon faced tough competition, with Parker dropping 1-6, 0-6 and Brandon 0-8.
In doubles play, Isabel and Esther came out strong with a 6-2 victory at the #2 seed. The #1 doubles team of Danaeyah and Natalie battled through a three-set thriller, narrowly falling 6-0, 5-7, 7-10. Parker and Brandon closed out the day with a hard-fought match at #1 boys’ doubles, 0-6, 0-6.
Overall, the Admirals won 5 of the 10 matches played, a testament to their progress and determination. Team members consistently displayed incredible sportsmanship and etiquette on and off the court. Rota Admirals played some incredible tennis this weekend, and we are so proud of their resilience!
Coach Derrickson praised the effort, saying, “Our players showed tremendous fight and growth this weekend. Winning half of the matches is a great accomplishment, but what stood out most was their sportsmanship and support for one another on and off the court.”
