Dear Admirals, 

What an AWESOME first week! It has been so good to have our students back in the building. The hallways are full, classrooms are busy, and our Admirals are finding their way, learning their schedules, meeting their teachers, and settling into new routines. I am so happy to have them back!

Students are using their lockers (hooray!), getting the hang of their schedules, and doing a great job adjusting to our schoolwide expectations. We’ve also had a really positive start with cell phones and dress code. Thank you for helping us keep the focus where it belongs...on learning, relationships, and making the most of every school day.

A few things to know as we head into next week:
Monday is an A Day!
Our opening C Day gave students a chance to visit every class and get oriented. From here, we are officially into our regular A/B schedule. We will not have another C Day until the first day of second semester, with our final C Day on the last day of school.

Open House | Wednesday, 1530-1800
We hope you’ll join us! We will begin together in the MPB for a brief welcome and a big-picture look at the year ahead. From there, families will head out to visit classrooms, meet teachers, and get a better feel for what a day at Rota MHS looks like for our students.
One thing you should know about Rota MHS is that AVID strategies are embedded throughout our school, and organization is a big part of that work. During Open House, be sure to stop by our student-led planner table. Our students will show you what a well-used planner should look like and how we expect Admirals to use this tool to keep track of assignments, plan ahead, and take ownership of their learning. Planners aren’t just something we hand out. They are an important part of how we help students build strong habits.

Fall Sports Are Underway!
Our student-athletes are already hard at work, and we would love to see our Admiral families in the stands! Keep an eye on our school calendar for upcoming home games and meets. And mark your calendars now: Homecoming is October 3! 

Finally, two things you will hear from me all year long:
Attendance matters. We can’t teach students who aren’t here. Every day and every class period matter, and consistent attendance makes a tremendous difference.
Check Aspen regularly. Please make it a habit to check Aspen for academic progress, assignments, grades, and communication. Staying informed along the way helps us work together to support students before small concerns become bigger ones.

Thank you for a fantastic first week and for trusting us with your kids. It takes a little time for everyone to find their rhythm at the beginning of a new school year, but our Admirals are off to a wonderful start. We are so happy they are here, and we are looking forward to a great year together!
