Applications Now Open for Virgen del Rosario Representative!
Open to all Rising Seniors, Class of 2026

We are thrilled to announce the beginning of the selection process for the new representative for the Virgen del Rosario, formally titled Dama del Rosario, festivities in Rota. This year brings a significant change: the program is now open to male participants!
For decades, the Damas tradition has been a cherished part of the festivities, representing the women of Rota. The American community has long been involved in this tradition, strengthening the bond between our two communities. Now, both female and male students have the opportunity to participate and represent the American presence in Rota.
Program Details:
- Eligibility: One current high school junior (rising senior) will be chosen to represent the American community during the festivities.
- Time Commitment: This program usually starts in July/August and culminates with the big Rosario celebration in the first week of October. However, the student will represent the Base for the entire year, including events on Three Kings Day (January 5th), during Carnaval (February) and Feria (beginning of May.)
- Financial Obligation: The representative's family is responsible for purchasing formal attire and costumes, with a minimum cost of 600€.
- Language Skills: While bilingual skills are not required, Spanish language proficiency is expected, as the representative will need to deliver a speech in Spanish.
How to Apply: Interested students must agree to the program's terms and have their legal guardian sign the updated form. The signed document must be returned to Mr. Manuel Sosa at the Front Desk office no later than Friday, May 9, 2025.
For any questions, please contact Ms. Alejandra Tirapu, Community Relations Specialist, at Alejandra.TirapuLucero.LN@us.navy.mil or +34 620 140 575.
We encourage all eligible students to consider this unique opportunity to represent our community and participate in the rich cultural traditions of Rota.
