RMHS Celebrates Matthew Iglesias Rodríguez's Judo Championship Victory

Matthew Iglesias Rodríguez, a student at Rota Middle High School, has been crowned Judo Champion of Spain in the -55 kg category at the Spanish School Championship in Huesca, Aragón, showcasing exceptional skill and determination.

We are thrilled to announce that one of our own, Matthew Iglesias Rodríguez, a dedicated student at Rota Middle High School, has achieved an incredible milestone in his judo career. With the spirit of a true Admiral, Matthew has been crowned Champion of Spain in the -55 kg category at the recent Spanish School Championship held in Huesca, Aragón. 🥇

The event, hosted at the Palacio de los Deportes de Huesca, saw nearly 800 young athletes from across Spain competing fiercely for top honors. Matthew showcased exceptional skill and determination, advancing through each round with remarkable victories. He triumphed over competitors from Castilla y León, Galicia, Valencia, and ultimately secured his championship title by defeating Baleares in the final match.

Matthew's journey to the top was marked by his unwavering dedication and hard work, qualities that have earned him admiration and respect both within and outside the judo and school community. His victory is not just a personal achievement but also a proud moment for our school and the entire Admiral community.

We also extend our congratulations to Yeshua Iglesias Rodríguez, another student at Rota Middle High School, who fought with great effort but defeated by Aragón in his first match at the championships.
