RMHS NJROTC Hosts 2025 Military Ball

On Saturday, May 17th, the Rota Middle High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NJROTC) held its annual Military Ball at La Plaza, bringing together cadets, faculty, and friends for an evening of tradition, celebration, and camaraderie.
The event welcomed over 40 attendees and was hosted by Cadets B. Westberg and J. Vollmer, who served as Masters of Ceremonies. The evening began with a warm welcome from Cadet Commanding Officer B. Westberg, followed by the presentation of the National Anthem and a solemn tribute to the POW/MIA table—an honored tradition that pays respect to prisoners of war and those missing in action.
A highlight of the evening was the ceremonial cake-cutting, symbolizing the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next. This year, the oldest cadet, Cadet R. Owins, passed the first slice of cake to the youngest cadet, Cadet A. Doelfel, in a touching moment that underscored the values of mentorship and continuity within the NJROTC program.
The ball also marked a leadership transition, as Cadet J. Vollmer was welcomed as the new Cadet Commanding Officer. The evening featured heartfelt toasts from cadets, a formal dinner, and a keynote address by guest speaker CAPT Jeff Bleile, Dental Corps, USN, and Department Head of General Dentistry, who shared insights and inspiration with the cadets.
Following the formal program, attendees enjoyed a lively dance, closing the night with laughter, music, and memories that will last a lifetime.
The 2025 Military Ball was a resounding success, celebrating the spirit of service, leadership, and unity that defines the NJROTC program at Rota Middle High School.
