This past Saturday, the Rota MHS baseball team faced off against their divisional rivals, the Vicenza Cougars, in a thrilling double header. Despite missing some key players, the Admirals managed to split the games, showcasing their resilience and determination.
In the first game, Rota emerged victorious with a close score of 6-5. Strong pitching performances by Mikey B. and Thomas B. were crucial in securing the win. The Admirals capitalized on key errors made by the Cougars, demonstrating their ability to seize opportunities and turn the tide in their favor.
However, the second game saw a different outcome, with Vicenza overpowering Rota with a score of 10-1. Despite the loss, the Admirals' efforts in the first game ensured their position as the second seed for pool play at the upcoming Euros in Germany next week.
Coach Dominguez expressed his pride in the team's performance, stating, "The boys have done a good job this year and put us in a good place going into Euros. We still have some work to do, and we’re looking forward to playing in Germany next week."
